What is the mission of the school?
    Covenant Love Community School is Christ-centered and relationally-based, assisting parents to train and equip children to fulfill God's purposes for their generation.

Where is the school located?
    We are located on NYS Route 13, 8 miles north of Ithaca, NY, and a 10 minute drive from Cornell University, in the town of Freeville.

What type of facility do you have?
    Our facility is a renovated and updated barn, which also houses Covenant Love Community Church. We have a large playground and extensive grounds, including a soccer field. Our students bring lunch, and they have supervised access to microwave ovens and refrigerators.

What school districts do you serve?
    We are located in the Dryden school district, and also have students from the Ithaca, Groton, Lansing, Cortland, and Homer school districts.

What school calendar do you follow?
    We generally follow the Dryden Central School district calendar, although we schedule our own conference days, some of which coincide with DCS. CLCS' classes end 7-10 days earlier than DCS. Vacations and holidays are usually the same as DCS.

What are school hours?
    School starts at 8:15 am and ends at 2:30 pm, with morning drop-off available at 7:45. Students not riding buses home must be picked up no later than 3 pm.

Is busing available to the school?
    Busing is available to all students residing within a 15 mile radius of CLCS, and is provided by the student's home school district.

Are you sponsored by a church?
    We are a ministry of Covenant Love Community Church, and receive financial support from CLCC. Click here to find out more about CLC Church.

Do you belong to any organizations for Christian schools?
    Yes, we are a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), a global association of 5,000 member schools. For more information on ACSI, click here.

Do you have different churches represented in your school?
    Our current students are members of 13 different churches in Tompkins and Cortland Counties.

How much does it cost?
    Tuition is $4,366 for the 2008-2009 school year. If more than one child is registered, there are discounts for the additional children. Please see our Financial Information page for specific information on tuition rates.

Are there any additional fees?
    A non-refundable registration fee of $75 per family is charged each year for admission and re-enrollment. Late applications (after June 1) are charged a fee of $100. For a registered family, additional children enrolled after June 1 will be charged a registration fee of $35.

    A School Activity Fee, covering the costs for field trips, activities, and other expenses, is $35 per student, due the first day of school.

    Should a child or children be withdrawn from the school prior to the end of the year, an early withdrawal fee of 20% of the tuition balance per student will be charged.

Is there an additional fee for textbooks?
    No. The students' school districts provide a book allowance, payable to the school, which we use to purchase textbooks for the school.

Do you offer financial aid?
    A limited amount of scholarship funds are available each year. Families anticipating financial hardship may apply for financial assistance. Requests may also be made for an extended payment plan, which will spread tuition over a twelve-month period. Financial aid applications must be received by June 1.

Are contributions to Covenant Love Community School tax-deductible?
    Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, so all donations to our school (except for designated tuition subsidies) are tax-deductible.Click here to access our pledge form

Do you have a scholarship fund?
    Yes. All Scholarship fund contributions will help to supplement tuition costs for families who have requested and qualified for financial aid.

Do you offer foreign language instruction?
    We currently provide instruction in Spanish for grades K-8. Our 8th grade Spanish students take the NYS Spanish proficiency test.

Do you offer accelerated courses?
    We currently offer an accelerated math track to qualifying students. Other accelerated courses may be available on an individual basis.

Do you have computers in the classroom?
    All students in grades K-8 have technology included in their curriculum. Each classroom has at least one computer, and our Computer Lab provides supervised internet access.

Do you have a music program?
    Our music program includes weekly classes for grades K-7. Instrumental instruction is available after school hours for an additional fee, and the school has a student ensemble, which performs a wide range of music for both school and public events.

What type of Bible instruction is offered?
    Bible instruction is designed by the teachers for their individual classrooms and by the faculty and staff for the school as a whole. Memory verses, collaborative projects, artwork, and group discussions are all part of our Bible instruction program.

Do you give New York State Tests?
    We currently give the 4th and 8th grade ELA and Math tests, and the 4th grade ESPET.

Do you give other standardized tests?
    Not currently, so the students aren't "tested out". We keep close contact with the Dryden Central School district about current testing trends and evaluate our testing policy accordingly.

What is your current enrollment?
    For the 2007/2008 school year we have 50 full and part-time students in grades K-8.

What is the average class size?
    Classes range from 10 to 15 students each, with each classroom generally including two grades. Middle school grades may have some classes separately, such as science, math, and English. Instruction follows grade-specific curricula, and students are often grouped in smaller units within the classroom, to focus on varying skill levels. Students benefit, as well, from combined-grade lessons and activities.

Does your school utilize volunteers?
    Yes! We welcome and encourage volunteers who share our vision.

Do you provide before- and/or after-school care?
    Not currently.

What is your reputation in the local area?
    Our reputation is excellent, both for the character of our students and for the quality of their education.

Where do students go after 8th grade graduation?
    Students go on to attend high school in their respective school districts, or occasionally are home-schooled. Some families choose to keep their children in the Dryden school district and pay tuition to do so.

What is your discipline policy?
    The emphasis of our discipline/training policy is on training and instruction, rather than on the administration of punitive actions, and we feel the most important prerequisite for this policy to be effective is a healthy relationship between home and school.
